Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 29, 2026
Crooked Finger Games ("Crooked Finger Games," "we," "us," or "our") operates the LaneCoach mobile app and the lanecoachapp.com website (together, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.
1. Information we collect
Account information. When you create a LaneCoach account, you sign in with Apple, Google, or (in a future release) Facebook. We receive your name and email address from that provider so we can create and secure your account.
Bowling profile data. Information you enter about your physical game, such as dominant hand, ball speed, and rev rate, so the app can tailor its recommendations to you.
Equipment data. Details you enter about the bowling balls in your bag (e.g., brand, model, weight), so the app can recommend from equipment you actually own.
Advice and session data. When you describe a lane reaction and request a recommendation, we log that "advice operation" — your input and the resulting speed, target, and ball-change guidance — so the app can function and so we can improve it over time.
Subscription information. LaneCoach offers a free trial followed by a paid subscription. Payment is handled entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play; we do not receive or store your payment card details. We receive limited subscription-status information (e.g., active, expired) from Apple/Google to manage your access to paid features.
Early-access list. If you sign up for early access from the website, we collect the email address you provide to contact you about testing opportunities and product updates.
2. How we use your information
- Provide, maintain, and personalize your lane-play recommendations
- Create and secure your account, and remember your profile and bag between sessions
- Process and manage your subscription through Apple/Google
- Send you product updates or early-access communications you've requested
- Monitor, maintain, and improve the Service
3. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your bowling profile, equipment, or advice data with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We share information only with the service providers who help us run LaneCoach, and only as needed for that purpose:
- Apple, Google, and (in the future) Facebook — to authenticate your account via sign-in
- Apple App Store / Google Play — to process subscription billing
- Render (our hosting provider) — to store app data on our behalf
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Crooked Finger Games or our users.
4. Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion of your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where a copy must be retained for a limited time in routine backups or to comply with a legal obligation.
5. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, including the right to:
- Access, correct, or request a copy of your personal information
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Restrict or object to certain processing
- Request portability of your data in a common format
Residents of the European Economic Area and the UK have these rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR. California residents have similar rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know what personal information we collect and to request its deletion — as noted above, we do not sell personal information. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at crookedfingergames@gmail.com.
6. International data transfers
LaneCoach is operated from the United States, and the infrastructure that stores your data is located in the United States. If you use the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have data protection laws different from those in your country. We take reasonable steps to keep your information secure wherever it is processed.
7. Children's privacy
LaneCoach is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at crookedfingergames@gmail.com.
8. Cookies and the website
The lanecoachapp.com website itself does not set its own cookies or run analytics. It does load fonts directly from Google Fonts, which may cause your browser to send your IP address to Google when the page loads. Google's use of that information is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above. Your continued use of the Service after a change becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
11. Contact us
